What kind of debt can you help me with?

Unsecured debt would include credit card balances, medical bills, unsecured bank loans, old utility bills, and repossessions.  We cannot help with any secured debts such as car or home payments, government-backed student loans, IRS debt, or child support.

How will this program benefit me?

Two words: disposable income.  You cannot reach your financial goals if there is nothing left at the end of the month to save or invest.  Wouldn’t it be nice to get off the merry-go-round of minimum payments to your creditors and put that money to work for YOU?  Whether your want to save for retirement or build a college fund for your kids or grandkids, you need disposable income to make things happen.

Why not go with a non-profit program?

Non profit agencies do offer services to people in financial distress.  Often, they can reduce some of your interest rates.  However, none of their programs will lower your principle.  Debt Settlement not only eliminates interest, it reduces your overall unsecured debt by 40-60%, including all fees.  There is no comparison.

Do you charge interest?

No.  The amount you pay is based upon the current debt when you enter the program.  Your monthly payment is determined by dividing the settlement amount and legal fees by the total number of months until payoff.  There is no interest.

What are the fees?

You will enjoy all the benefits of working with a reputable law firm without the exorbitant costs.  The legal fees are already included in the program.  You will pay off all your current debt for 40-60% of what you owe, including all legal fees.  You will never get a separate bill in the mail from your attorneys.

What will my monthly payment be?

Your payment amount depends on the total amount of your debt.  We also take your budget into consideration.  We can almost always offer you a monthly payment that is lower than the combined total of all those minimum payments your creditors demand.  In other words, our program costs less than staying in debt on your own.

Who will be my lawyer?

Unlike most debt relief companies, Progress Financial Group works with more than one law firm in order to match clients with the attorney best suited to their needs.  We will take a good look at your financial picture and determine who will provide you the right legal assistance.  They say you should always check your attorney’s rating with the Better Business Bureau.  We do.  We only use law firms with an A+ rating.

How will the program affect my credit?

Your overall credit-worthiness is important.  It’s more than a number.  Lenders must decide if you are a good risk.  One of the key factors is something called your “debt-to-income ratio.”  How much money comes into your household each month and how much is tied up by payments?   If you’re spending everything you earn to keep up with bills, there is nothing left.  Lenders see that you cannot afford more debt.  You’re already forced to pay off too many unsecured debts.  Ironically, your “good credit” got you into “bad debt.”  The most important thing you can do now is GET OUT OF DEBT.

Any debt management program will affect your credit score in the beginning.  However, once your debt settlement lawyers begin to pay off your accounts and you obtain zero balances, you will gradually strengthen your debt-to-income ratio.  In other words, your total unsecured debt shrinks all the way to ZERO at the end of the program.  All your income works for you now.  Many successful debt settlement clients also complete a credit restoration program.  Either way, potential lenders will find your credit standing improved.  If you are considering a debt settlement program, don’t let concern over your ruining your credit hold you back.  Too many people have allowed their good credit to ruin them.

Can I achieve these settlements on my own?

Technically, yes, it is possible.  It is also possible to perform brain surgery on yourself.  We don’t advise either.  Who is a creditor likely to take more seriously … a struggling customer or a highly-regarded consumer advocate attorney?  A professional negotiator knows what to say, what not to say, what to ask for, and the standard acceptance offers of most individual creditors.  Most people wouldn’t even know how to fill out the complicated financial forms.  Remember the old saying: A lawyer who represents himself has a fool for a client.  When you let an attorney handle your settlement, you can feel safe knowing that a professional negotiator will deal with every annoying call, every letter, and every pushy creditor.  You never have to talk to anyone.  Did you know that fraud is a common complaint in the collection industry?  Collectors who work on commission will go to any length to get you to make a payment.  They have been known to trick unsuspecting credit card customers into sending money, claiming it will be used as a settlement to eliminate the debt.  In reality, the creditors cash the check as an overdue payment and send the customer a bill for the remaining balance, plus sky-high interest.  Don’t go it alone!  Put your trust in a qualified attorney who specializes in settling debt on behalf of consumers like you.  Call it a no-brainer
